Borussia Dortmund 2-1 PSG: Haaland’s Brace Secures Home victory
Borussia Dortmund registered a 2-1 win over Paris Saint Germain at home in the first leg of the last 16 of the Champions League.
Erling Braut Haaland was the hero again as his double meant Dortmund take a slender lead to Paris for the second leg. It wasn’t a great night for PSG but Neymar’s away gives them something to take back to Paris with them.
Neymar had an early chance to thread the ball through for the run of Mbappe but Zagadou was in the right place at the right time to make a crucial intervention.
The hosts responded well, Haaland flicked the ball into the path of Sancho, who skipped past a couple of challenges. However, the England international could thread the ball back through for Haaland as PSG recovered possession.
Dortmund took the lead in the 69th minute and it was that man Haaland with the strike. Hakimi’s cross picked out Guerreiro on the penalty spot and his shot was deflected into the path of Haaland, who finished from a tight angle for his 10th goal in seven games.
In the 75th minute, PSG drew level and they had a crucial away goal. Mbappe skipped past three challenges before laying the ball on a plate for Neymar, who had the easiest of finishes.
Two minutes later, he did it again with a brilliant strike. Reyna slipped the ball through for Haaland, who unleashed a rocket from the edge of the penalty area to pick out the top corner.
