As an infant, Carlos started playing and his neighbors suggested that he be taken to a youth club at age five. His father took him to train daily, even when the family lost their home due to Hurricane Georges in 1998.

Later, he would discover himself playing in his first American Amateur Baseball Congress and later the Rio Grande who chose his name to play in the championship series that later took place in Atlanta.

At the time the family was inadequate to fund the trip to the city of Rio Grande and so the community and his former team paid to allow him to travel to train. At the event, Correa was named the Most Valuable Player.

The year 2012 was the time he enlisted into the MLB Draft as the player with the highest profile and was chosen for the Houston Astros with the overall first selection, which made him the most highly-selected player of the Puerto Rican high school to be selected.
